Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Last updated: February 25, 2026
Aria is committed to protecting the privacy of young users. This policy describes how we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and how we handle data for users under 18.
1. Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to create an Aria account. During signup, we collect your date of birth to verify eligibility. Your date of birth is:
- Immutable — once set, it cannot be changed
- Never displayed publicly — excluded from your profile and all public API responses
- Validated server-side — age verification occurs on our servers, not solely on the device
If we determine that an account belongs to a user under 13, we will promptly delete the account and all associated data.
2. What We Collect from Users Under 18
For users aged 13–17, we collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Account information: Email address, display name, username, date of birth
- Ephemeral audio: Live audio is streamed in real-time and not stored after the session ends (unless the session is recorded with consent)
- Anonymized usage data: App performance and feature usage, collected without individual identifiers
We do not collect the following from any user, including minors:
- Advertising identifiers or ad tracking IDs
- Precise or approximate location data
- Contacts or address book data
- Browsing history outside of Aria
3. Parental Rights
Parents or guardians of users aged 13–17 have the right to:
- Access their child's personal information by contacting us
- Request deletion of their child's account and all associated data
- Withdraw consent for further data collection
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@aria-live.app with the subject line "Parental Request." We will verify the parent-child relationship before processing any request.
4. How We Protect Minors
Aria employs multiple layers of protection for all users, with additional safeguards for minors:
- Real-time AI moderation: All live sessions are monitored by AI for harmful content, including hate speech, threats, and sexually explicit material
- CSAM zero tolerance: Any content involving the sexual exploitation of minors is immediately flagged, reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and the account is permanently terminated without appeal
- PII detection: Our AI systems detect and flag personal information shared in live audio (phone numbers, addresses, etc.)
- DM toxicity screening: Direct messages are screened for toxic content to prevent harassment
- Creator age restriction: You must be at least 18 years old to enable monetization and host subscriber sessions
5. No Targeted Advertising
Aria does not serve advertisements of any kind. We do not sell, share, or rent personal information to third parties for advertising purposes. Our revenue comes exclusively from creator subscriptions.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as regulations evolve. Material changes will be communicated through the app and, where required, we will obtain updated parental consent.
