Appeals Process
Last updated: February 25, 2026
We believe in fair enforcement. If you believe a moderation action was taken against your account in error, you have the right to appeal.
1. Right to Appeal
You may appeal any enforcement action taken against your account, including warnings, suspensions, content removals, and account terminations. The following exceptions apply:
- CSAM violations: Permanent bans for child sexual abuse material are not eligible for appeal
- Credible threats of violence: Permanent bans for credible, specific threats of physical violence are not eligible for appeal
2. How to Appeal
You can submit an appeal through either of these channels:
- In-app: Navigate to Profile → Settings → Strike History, select the action you wish to appeal, and tap "Appeal"
- Email: Send your appeal to appeals@aria-live.app
3. What to Include in Your Appeal
To help us process your appeal quickly, please include:
- Your Aria username
- The specific enforcement action you are appealing (e.g., "7-day suspension on February 20, 2026")
- Why you believe the action was taken in error
- Any supporting context (e.g., clarification of content, evidence of automated moderation error)
4. Review Timeline
- Appeals are reviewed within 48 hours of submission
- If an appeal is not reviewed within 48 hours, it is automatically escalated to a senior reviewer
- You will receive a push notification and email when your appeal is resolved
5. Possible Outcomes
Appeal Approved
The enforcement action is reversed. If a strike was involved, it is removed from your account. If your account was suspended, it is reinstated immediately. If you are a creator, paused subscription billing resumes.
Appeal Rejected
The enforcement action stands. You will receive a written explanation of why the appeal was denied. Each enforcement action may only be appealed once.
6. What We Consider
When reviewing an appeal, we evaluate:
- Context: Was the content taken out of context? Was there relevant surrounding conversation?
- History: Is this a first-time issue or part of a pattern?
- Severity: Was the content borderline or clearly prohibited?
- Automated errors: Was the action triggered by AI moderation that may have misclassified the content?
7. Copyright-Related Appeals
For enforcement actions related to copyright infringement (DMCA takedowns, copyright strikes), the proper legal remedy is a counter-notification as described in our DMCA Policy. The general appeals process does not override the DMCA counter-notification procedure.
8. Transparency
All enforcement decisions and appeal outcomes are:
- Logged: Every action is recorded in our moderation audit trail
- Attributed: The reviewing administrator is recorded (though not disclosed to the user)
- Explained: You will always receive a written response explaining the decision
